E.2 Trigger Angle

The trigger angle is simply the angle before top dead centre (BTDC) at which the trigger
event occurs. The trigger device used must produce at least one trigger event for each ignition
event and each trigger must occur a constant angle BTDC. The common Trigger Angle for the
E6GMX is approx 70 deg. The “Trigger Angle” can be set by enabling the “Lock Timing”
feature in the “Ignition setup” page, and checking the spark timing on the engine with a
timing light. With the “Lock Timing Angle” set to 15 deg, the ECU should be firing the
ignition where it believes 15 deg BTDC is. Adjust the “Trigger Angle” until the timing mark
is correct with the ECU timing. Unlock the timing once this is completed.

Please note that the RPM must be above 500RPM. If the engine RPM is below 500RPM, the
module will fire at 10 deg BTDC, regardless of where the E6GMX is telling it to fire. If the
timing will not alter from 10 deg, please check that the “Aux Out” option has been set to
“Bypass” in the “Input / Output Setup” page.
