Local display not on

24 VDC not on or set correctly

Verify power supply is outputting 24 VDC (termi-
nals 1 and 10)

Incorrect wiring polarity

Check wiring for correct polarity

Interface connections on bottom are
not correct

Make sure connections are correctly aligned and
fully plugged in

Erratic communications

Multiple units have same address on
network line

Change each unit to a unique, sequential address
(refer to Address Setting in Maintenance section)

Proper polarity not maintained

Check all network connections for correct positive
and negative connections

Individual units not properly wired

Begin with shortest RS-485 run, checking polarity
and communication; continue checking units
throughout network

Termination jumpers not installed

Install termination jumper on most distant device.
Remove jumper from all other devices

The unit does not respond to analog
commands

Unit still in test mode

Put unit in auto or manual mode. Select analog
input

StarPac 3 data is not correct

Improper configuration file was
loaded onto system

Find the correct file for this system and load onto
the unit

Valve position reading is not correct Calibration not complete

Perform Quick-Cal procedure

Sticking or hunting operation of the
positioner

Contamination of the spool valve
Assembly. Damaged or broken poten-
tiometer or hall effect wiring

Check air supply for proper filtering and mee-
ting ISA Specification S7.3. Clean spool valve
assembly with a non residue cleaner. Inspect
wiring for damaged shielding or loose connectors
or terminals
