Function

Keypad

Some keys on the keypad perform a dual function

depending on whether the printer is in Keypad Mode

or Menu Mode. In Keypad Mode, the keys perform the

primary function labeled on the key such as Test/Font or

Feeder Select. When the printer is in Menu Mode, the

keys perform the secondary function labeled with the gray

colored symbols and text, such as

NOTE: All keys and related functions (with the exception

of

On Line

) work only when the printer is off line. This is

true whether the printer is in Keypad Mode or Menu Mode.

Keypad Mode.

Menu Mode.

On Line indicator (green)

Works in conjunction with

On Line

to indicate when the

printer is on line or off line (see

On Line

in Table 3–3).

On: The printer is on line and controlled by the host

computer. The host computer can send data to print and

commands to control the printer.

Off: The printer is off line and cannot receive any data

or commands from the host computer. It can only be

controlled using the keys on the control panel.

Form Feed indicator (green)

Works in conjunction with

Form Feed

to indicate when data

in the print buffer is being printed or when the command

to print is canceled (see

Form Feed

in Table 3–3).

On: Data in the print buffer is being printed.

Off: Data is not being printed.

Flashing: Command to print is canceled.

Duplex indicator (green)

Indicates whether the printer is set to print in duplex mode

(two-sided printing) or simplex mode (one-sided printing).

On: Prints in duplex mode.

Off: Prints in simplex mode.
