Using the NVIDIA MediaShield RAID Management Utility

Migrating from RAID 0+1 to RAID 0+1

The following example shows you how to convert from a RAID 0+1 array with four disks
to a RAID 0+1 array with six disks.

Note: To migrate from a RAID 0+1 array with four disks to a RAID 0+1 array with six

disks, you must have at least six hard drives in the system. In this example, the

system has six free RAID enabled disks.

1 Goto the system BIOS and make sure that the drives that you want to use are RAID

enabled.

2 Boot to Windows, launch the MediaShield application, then follow the steps outlined in

“Creating a Stripe Mirroring Array” on page 54

to create a four-disk mirrored stripe

array. When that is done, you should see a screen shot similar to the following:

Figure 3.94 RAID Array Created

Now that a four-disk stripe mirror array has been created, you can use the MediaShield
convert feature to migrate the array from a four-disk RAID 0+1 into an six-disk RAID
0+1 array.
