Installing the BSG8ew on a wall

Use this procedure to install a BSG8ew on a wall. The BSG12ew/aw/tw cannot be installed on a
wall.

Prerequisites

Obtain a Wall-Mount Assembly Kit (NTBU1225), which contains the door, the power
supply holder, and the wall-mount bracket.

Nortel recommends you use a plywood backboard 2 cm (3/4 in.) thick to simplify
installing multiple units (such as BCM50, BES50, and BSG8ew). However, because the
compact size and light weight of these units, a backboard is not required.

If you use the backboard, mount it securely on the wall.

If you do not use a backboard, use the appropriate wall anchors or ensure the screws are in
a stud.

Obtain five #8 x 2 cm (#8 x 0.75 in.) round-head wood screws to attach the unit to the wall
(supplied in kit).

You must mount similar units (such as BCM50, BES50, and BSG8ew) side-by-side on the
wall. Do not mount units on top of each other.

Procedure steps

Step

Action

1

Prepare the wall-mount bracket by removing the alignment tabs:

If this is the only unit in your system, remove the alignment tabs on the right side
of the wall-mount bracket.

If this is the last unit in a system with multiple units, remove the alignment tabs
on the left side of the wall-mount bracket.

2

Place the wall-mount bracket on the wall or backboard and then mark the
location of the mounting screws.

3

Use the alignment tabs to ensure the wall-mount brackets are properly aligned.
