Installation
Basic procedures
The following sections describe basic procedures that you use to prepare the Business Services
Gateway 8-port (BSG8ew) and Business Services Gateway 12-port (BSG12ew/aw/tw) for
maintenance and restarting the BSG8ew or BSG12ew/aw/tw after maintenance.

Shutting down the BSG8ew/12ew/aw/tw
Use this procedure to shut down the BSG8ew/12ew/aw/tw. For procedures on how to use the
BSG8ew/12ew/aw/tw Web User Interface (UI), see Administration (NN47928-600).

Step Action
1 Use the Web UI to check for a recent backup of the BSG8ew/12ew/aw/tw
system programming before powering down the BSG.
2 Unplug the unit.

Restarting the BSG8ew/12ew/aw/tw
Use this procedure to restart the BSG8ew/12ew/aw/tw.
Procedure steps
Step Action
1 Connect power to the BSG8ew/12ew/aw/tw. For more information, see
“Connecting power to the BSG8ew” on page 45 and “Connecting power to the
BSG12ew/aw/tw” on page 46 .
2 If the most recent configuration is not restored after powering up and logging in
to the unit, then check for most recent backup.
