Connecting the BSG8ew/12ew/aw/tw PSTN Central Office

Use this procedure to connect the BSG8ew/12ew/aw/tw PSTN Central Office (CO).

Prerequisites

Connect power to the BSG8ew/12ew/aw/tw.

Obtain a telephone cable with an RJ-11 modular jack.

Procedure steps

Plug the RJ-11 modular wall jack from PSTN into the FXO port of the BSG 8ew/
12ew/aw/tw. The FXS are then connected to analog phone lines.

Plug the other end of the cable into the telephone company demarcation blocks
of the building.

Connecting analog telephones to the BSG8ew/12ew/aw/tw

Use this procedure to connect analog telephones to the BSG8ew/12ew/aw/tw.

Prerequisites

Connect power to the BSG8ew/12ew/aw/tw.

Obtain a telephone cable with an RJ-11 modular jack.

Procedure steps

Plug the RJ-11 modular wall jack from PSTN into the FXO port of the BSG8ew
or BSG12ew/aw/tw. The FXS are then connected to analog telephones.

Plug the other end of the cable into the local connecting blocks.

Connecting the console to the BSG12ew/aw/tw

Use this procedure to connect the console to the BSG12ew/aw/tw for debugging purposes. A
console cable is provided in the BSG12 shipping box. The console cable is a CAT5 Ethernet cable
with adapter to DB-9 connector that connects to the PC.

Connect power to the BSG12ew/aw/tw.
