Replace a worn brush insert in good time:

– Press out the brush insert by inserting a screw-

– Insert a new brush insert up to the stop. The bris-

tles must be inclined towards the outside.

5.2 Protective guard SH-RAS115
For operations without extraction the protective
guard SH-RAS115 can be used.

– Assembly - see Fig. 2.

– Turn the protective guard into the best position for

work to be carried out, an tighten it by means of
the screw (1.4).

Use always the auxiliary handle (1.6) then work-

ing with the protective guard SH-RAS115.

The auxiliary handle can be screwed onto either
the right or left of the gear head (1.2).

5.3 Dust

extraction

Harmful/toxic dusts can be produced during your
work (e.g. lead-containing paint, some types of
wood and metal). Contact with these dusts, es-

pecially inhaling them, can represent a hazard for
operating personnel or persons in the vicinity. Comply
with the safety regulations that apply in your country.
Connect the electric power tool to a suitable extraction
system. To protect your health, wear a P2 protective
mask.

If potentially explosive or self-igniting dust is
produced during sanding, the processing in-
structions of the material manufacturer must

be observed under all circumstances.
You can connect a Festool extractor to the extractor
connector (4.2). The extractor hose in the Festool
extractor is 27 mm in diameter.
Always adjust the brush ring (4.3) with the rotary
knob (4.4) in fl ying direction of the sanding dust.

5.4

Installing sanding pad

The Stickfi x sanding discs (7.1) are threaded M14,
and can be screwed directly onto the drive shaft.
The sanding pad can normally be unscrewed by hand
after pressing the spindle stop (1.5). However, if the
sanding pad can still not be removed:

– Remove the brush insert (6.5).

– Apply the special spanner (6.3) through the slot

(6.4) on the spanner fl at of the sanding pad.

– Press spindle stop (1.5).

– Release the sanding pad by turning the special

spanner.

Actuate the spindle stop only when the drive

spindle is stationary. Do not switch on the motor
when the spindle stop is pressed in.

5.5

Attaching sanding material

The appropriate Stickfi x sanding paper and Stickfi x
sanding felt can be fastened quickly and easily onto
the Stickfi x sanding base.
The self-adhesive sanding material (1.5) is simply
pressed onto the sanding base (1.7) and held safely in
place by the Stickfi x sanding base velcro surface.
After use, the StickFix sandpaper is simply pulled
off.

5.6 Installing

brushes

The brushes (7.2) are threaded M14, and can be
screwed directly onto the drive shaft.

Always use for the circular brush RB-D115 for

peripheral grinding the protective guard SH-
RAS115.

Working with the machine

Do not overload the machine by pressing with exces-
sive force! The best sanding results are achieved with
moderate press-on pressure. The sanding output
and quality are mainly dependent on the selection
of the correct abrasive.
For machines with electronics systems, we recom-
mend the following setting for the adjusting wheel
(4.1):

6

• Sanding painted metal to remove rust

• Sanding of hard GRP components (limited suit-

ability)

4 - 6

• Sanding old paint
3 - 6

• Removal of anti-fouling paints

• Sanding of wood
2 - 4

• Sanding paint/varnish with tendency to smear

• Light sanding of thin top coats of paint

• Cleaning sandstone, concrete, shuttering mate-

rial

1 - 2

• Sanding of thermoplastics

• Smoothing treated woods with sanding brush
