4.1

Sharing folders via the FTP server

Turn your NAS into an FTP server and allow Windows®, Mac, and Linux users to access

your shared folders through the LAN or the Internet.

Actions for the administrator

1. Set up the Virtual Server for your router.

. Create user accounts, and assign shared folders and access rights. See

3.3.11 ~ 3.3.13

for details.

. Enable the FTP server via the Web GUI. See

3.3.4 Enabling the FTP server for details.

Actions for an FTP client

1. Launch an FTP client application.
. In the FTP client application, key in the FTP server address ftp://[NAS name] or

ftp://[NAS IP], username, and password.

. Download and upload files to the assigned shared folders.

IMPORTANT:

This is required if you want to make your shared folders accessible over the Internet. Refer

to the documentation that came with your router for instructions.
