3–12 UltraSCSI RAID Enclosure

Setting the Blower Speed Control

UltraSCSI enclosure blowers normally operate at low-speed and
provide sufficient air flow to cool the enclosure components and
ensure proper operation. Use the CLI

set emu fanspeed

command as follows to change the operating speed of the blowers:

Enter

set emu fanspeed=high

and all blowers in all

enclosures operate at high-speed.

Enter

set emu fanspeed=automatic

and the local

EMU controls the blower speed in each enclosure.

4.

EMU firmware versions 1.0 or 1.1 cannot use the

set emu

sensor_

n_setpoint=default

command. Instead, the

following command is required:

set emu sensor_

n_setpoint=nn

(where nn is the desired temperature in °C).

Table 3–4

Temperature Set Point Rules—EMU Firmware
Versions 1.2

1.

Enter all temperatures in degrees Celsius (°C). Do not use fractions,
decimals, or degrees Fahrenheit (°F).

2.

The EMU set point (sensor_3) temperature must be a minimum of
2°C (4°F) greater than the highest expected ambient (intake)
temperature.

3.

The backplane set points (sensor_1 and sensor_2) must be the same
temperature and a minimum of 12°C (22°F) greater than the highest
expected ambient temperature. This requires a minimum setting of
10°C (18°F) greater than the EMU set point.
