Register journals in an EXCTG

When performing Continuous Access Journal Z copy operations between multiple primary and
secondary storage systems, you must register the journals in an EXCTG.

Prerequisite information

Set up primary and secondary EXCTGs using Business Continuity Manager prior to registering
journals.

journals must be in Active or Stopped status.

Register master and restore journals in the separate EXCTGs.

When Continuous Access Journal Z pairs are cascaded with Business Copy Z, and the Business
Copy Z T-VOL and a Continuous Access Journal Z P-VOL share the volume, data consistency
cannot be maintained when between primary and secondary systems, even when journals
are registered in an EXCTG.

When Continuous Access Journal Z pairs are cascaded with Continuous Access Synchronous
Z, and the Continuous Access Synchronous Z R-VOL and Continuous Access Journal Z P-VOL
share the volume, make sure you enable the time stamp transferring option of all the Continuous
Access Synchronous Z pairs in the journal for data consistency.
