HP Secure Encryption

HP Secure Encryption is a controller-based, enterprise-class data encryption solution that protects data at rest
on any bulk storage attached to the HP Smart Array controller. The solution is available for both local and

remote deployments, and works in conjunction with HP SmartCache.
HP Secure Encryption functions to secure sensitive data, for example all business data or data deemed

mission critical and requiring extra levels of protection. Protection is accomplished through the use of data
encryption keys and a simple deployment methodology. Many companies under government regulations

require that sensitive data must be secure and uncompromised. HP Secure Encryption has applied for

FIPS-140-2 (

) level 2

regulatory data protection regulations established, with certification pending completion in 2014. Not only

is all data at rest protected, but any data that resides on the FBWC module, which is used as a write-caching
mechanism, is also encrypted.
Using the Encryption Manager, you can access HP Secure Encryption features to perform tasks such as key

management through the HP Enterprise Secure Key Manager and managing passwords. For more

information about optional encryption solutions for HP SSA, see the HP Secure Encryption Installation and
User Guide
.
To access HP Secure Encryption features for Gen8 controllers, a separate license key must be purchased from

HP. To obtain a license key, see the Secure Encryption product page on the HP website
