Installing the ThinkServer RAID FastPath Software Key

Attention: Do not open your server or attempt any repair before reading and understanding “Safety information”
on page iii
and “Guidelines” on page 83.

This topic provides instructions on how to install the ThinkServer RAID FastPath Software Key (hereafter
called the software key).

The software key works as an input/output (I/O) accelerator for the solid-state drive (SSD) arrays that connect
to the ThinkServer RAID 710 Adapter. The software key improves the performance of storage devices and
operations, especially the highly random I/O operations. You can purchase a software key from Lenovo.

Before you begin, print all the related instructions or ensure that you can view the PDF version on another
computer for reference.

Notes:

• Use any documentation that comes with the software key and follow those instructions in addition to

the instructions in this topic.

• For information about how to configure the ThinkServer RAID 710 Adapter and the software key, refer to

the MegaRAID SAS Software User Guide on the documentation DVD that comes with your server.
