Installing the ThinkServer RAID CacheCade Software Key

Attention: Do not open your server or attempt any repair before reading and understanding “Safety information”
on page iii
and “Guidelines” on page 83.

This topic provides instructions on how to install the ThinkServer RAID CacheCade Software Key (hereafter
called the CacheCade key).

The CacheCade key enables the solid-state drives and hard disk drives installed on your server to work
together for better input/output (I/O) performance. The solid-state drives work as the cache for the
hard-disk-drive RAID array to improve the I/O operations per second.

Before you begin, print all the related instructions or ensure that you can view the PDF version on another
computer for reference.

Notes:

• Use any documentation that comes with the CacheCade key and follow those instructions in addition to

the instructions in this topic.

• For information about how to configure the ThinkServer RAID 710 Adapter and the CacheCade key, refer

to the MegaRAID SAS Software User Guide on the documentation DVD that comes with your server.
