SATA

DOMs

require

power

to

be

provided

by

the

storage

array

using

the

P4

power

cable

that

is

normally

plugged

into

the

boot

drive

module

backplane.

The

P4

power

cable

needs

to

be

removed

from

the

boot

drive

module

backplane

and

attached

to

the

power

adapter

cable

that

came

with

your

SATA

DOM.

The

USB

DOM

obtains

its

power

directly

from

the

server

board.

When

using

a

USB

DOM,

you

must

disconnect

the

mini

USB

cable

that

is

connected

to

the

USB

header

on

the

server

board.

This

disables

the

mini

USB

port

on

the

front

of

the

chassis.

Options

In

the

Intel

Storage

Server

SSR2

1

2MC2,

the

twelve

SATA/SAS

drives

are

connected

via

the

mini-SAS

to

mini-SAS

cable

that

resides

between

Intel

SRCSATAWB

RAID

controller

and

the

backplane.

Drives

can

be

either

SATA

or

SAS.

The

server

board

includes

a

dual-mode

4-port

SAS

controller

which

supports

both

SAS

and

SATA

hard

disk

drives.

This

controller

is

capable

of

data

transfer

rates

up

to

3.0

Gbps

per

port.

The

storage

array

enables

the

SAS

controller

and

configures

the

two

black

SATA

ports

on

the

server

board

to

function

as

SATA

ports.

In

this

configuration,

the

four

blue

ports

can

be

used

as

either

SAS

or

SATA

ports.

See

the

Intel

Server

Board

S5000PSL

User

Guide

for

information

on

setting

up

the

server

board

to

support

either

SATA

or

SAS

options.

In

the

Intel

Storage

Server

SSR2

1

2MC2,

the

two

internal

boot

drives

are

connected

to

the

two

black

SATA

ports

and

can

be

used

with

SATA

drives.

You

can

optionally

remove

one

of

the

SAS

port

connections

and

connect

it

to

the

boot

drive

module.

This

would

eliminate

one

of

the

four

SAS

lanes

going

to

the

backplane.

See

your

operating

system

or

third-party

storage

software

documentation

for

instructions

on

loading

drivers

and

configuring

the

storage

server.
