2.2.1 Adding A Communications Port and Controllers
The Port Settings tab (
) shows the ports currently configured. Clicking
on the Add Port button will bring up the dialog shown in
Figure 2-4
. If
communicating to the Cygnus Controller via RS-232, select the port in which the
serial cable is connected. After selecting the correct port, click the Add button.
This will return to the System Properties dialog and will now display the added
port as shown in
Figure 2-6 on page 2-5
. If communicating to the Cygnus
Controller via GPIB (IEEE-488), select the GPIB item and press Add.

If this is the first time the GPIB port has been added to the Cygnus Editor, the
following dialog (

) will assist with the configuration.

Figure 2-5
asks if AutoDetect should be enabled for this port. AutoDetect is a
function that periodically checks the communications port for controllers and
automatically bring them online.
