Used By Table Column

The Used By table column shows where and how many times each variable is used in the test. This is
useful for:

Editing variables used by more than one activity. If a variable is used by multiple activities, you may
want to create additional variables to manage the unintended changes.

Troubleshooting complex tests.

Deleting variables. If you delete a variable that is in use, validation errors occur where the deleted
variable is referenced.

This column includes a drop-down list that shows where the variable is active. To locate where the variable
is used in context of the test, click on the entry, and the context is shown. For example:

For a calculation, the entry for the calculated variable becomes selected.

For an activity, the workflow appears with the activity selected.

For a monitor view, the monitor display appears when you select the view.

For data acquisition, the Data Acquisition window appears with the corresponding entry selected.
