Open the lid and remove the cleaning chip labeled EC.

Insert the “DEPC” chip. Close the lid for 5 min. Remove the chip and discard the washes.
7.
Replace the water in the “DEPC” chip and repeat steps 6.
8.
Allow the electrodes to dry for 1 min.
9.
Close the lid.
10. Replace the water in both cleaning chips after each use to avoid contamination. For
storage, remove the water from the cleaning chips and store the chips in a clean
location.
Method 2B: Cleaning After an RNA Assay
Following each RNA analysis, rinse the electrodes with DEPC-treated water:
1.
Fill the cleaning chip labeled “DEPC” with 800 µl DEPC-treated water. Gently tap the
side of the cleaning chip to remove any trapped bubbles from the wells.
2.
Open the lid of the electrophoresis station and place the cleaning chip on the chip
platform.
3.
Close the lid and leave it closed for 1 min.
4.
Open the lid and remove the cleaning chip.
5.
Allow the electrodes to dry for 1 min.
6.
Close the lid.
7.
Replace the water in the cleaning chip after use to avoid contamination. For storage,
remove the water from the cleaning chip and store the chip in a clean location.
