802.3ah Ethernet OAM Settings

802.3ah Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) Operations Administration and Maintenance
(OAM) is a group of network management functions that provide network fault indication,
per formance information, and diagnosis using special-purpose Ethernet OAM frames.
These are exchanged between your Gateway and ser vice provider Access Node (AN)
devices for network fault management, per formance analysis and fault isolation.

All VDSL and Ethernet WAN Motorola Netopia Gateways suppor t Ethernet OAM options.

More Ethernet Packet-Transfer-Mode (PTM) enabled xDSL Motorola Netopia Gateways will
suppor t 802.3ah Ethernet OAM options in future releases.

802.3ah Ethernet OAM exchanges periodic Ethernet OAM hear tbeat frames between the
endpoints of the physical link being monitored, and thus discovers and keeps-alive the Link
connectivity and repor ts faults if the link goes down. Suppor ted OAM request and
response types are: remote loopback enable, remote loopback disable, variable request,
variable response.

set ethernet oam ah option [ off | on ]

Enables or disables Ethernet OAM. Default is

off.

set ethernet oam ah pass-through [ off | on ]

Enable or disable Ethernet OAM pass-through mode. Default is

off.

Warning: This is a DEBUG feature. Leave it off unless you know exactly what you are
doing.

set ethernet oam ah mode [ active | passive ]

Specifies the Ethernet OAM mode. Default is

active.

set ethernet oam ah pdu-size-max [ 64 - 1518 ]

Specifies the Maximum Protocol Data Unit (PDU) size. Default is

1518.
