Reassigning The Drive Letter To The DSF

To reassign the drive letter to the DSF, follow the steps below:

1.

In the Backup Exec console, click Tools → Configure Devices → New Deduplication Storage Folder Wizard.

2.

Provide the drive letter of the DSF virtual disk.

3.

Restart the Backup Exec services.

Manually Configuring A DSF Virtual Disk

To manually configure a DSF virtual disk, follow the steps below:

1.

Using the Backup Exec console, locate the unconfigured DSF virtual disk in the device tree view.

2.

Right-click the virtual disk and select Configure.

3.

Restart the Backup Exec services.

Recovering The DSF From Backup

To recover the DSF from backup, follow the steps below:

1.

In the Backup Exec console, navigate to Job Setup view → Restore Tasks , click New Job.

2.

On the Restore Job Properties under Source → Selection , click the View by Resource tab.

3.

In the appliance, expand the resource tree.

4.

Expand the Shadow Copy Components.

5.

Locate the most current backup under User Data → Backup Exec Deduplication Storage and check the box to

enable recovery of the DSF.

6.

Under Source → Device, select the backup to disk folder source that contains the DSF backup. You may select All

Virtual Disks for this setting.

7.

Under Settings → Advanced, locate the Junction Points section.

8.

Click Preserve existing junction points and symbolic links and restore files and directories from backup media.

9.

Under Setting → General, enter a name for this recovery job.

10. Click Run Now to start the recovery job.
11. After the DSF recovery job completes, the Backup Exec services must be restarted.

DSF Inventory And Catalog

Perform inventory and catalog on the DSF using the procedures in the topic “Virtual Disk Inventory and Catalog”.

Retargeting Jobs To The New DSF

After a new DSF has been created and optionally restored from backup, retarget any backup or recovery jobs that used
the deleted DSF. Navigate to the Job Setup view and modify the properties of each job to use the new DSF.
