Removing the Processor Heatsink Assembly

 

 

1.

Follow the instructions in

Before Working on Your Computer

.


 

2.

Remove the bottom of the base assembly (see

Removing the Bottom of the Base Assembly

).


 

3.

Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.

 

4.

In sequential order, loosen the four captive screws that secure the processor heatsink assembly to the system board.

 

5.

Carefully lift the screw-end of the assembly up at an angle.

 

6.

Remove the vent-end of the assembly out of the computer.

 

Replacing the Processor Heatsink Assembly

 

 

1.

Place the vent-end of the assembly into the computer at an angle, then connect the fan cable to the system board, and set the screw-end of the
assembly in place.

 

2.

Align the four captive screws on the processor heatsink assembly with the screw holes on the system board.

 

3.

In sequential order, tighten the four captive screws to secure the processor heatsink assembly to the system board.

 

4.

Connect the fan cable to the system board.

 

5.

Replace the bottom of the base assembly (see

Replacing the Bottom of the Base Assembly

).
