DRAFT: BROCADE CONFIDENTIAL

Enabling interoperability

When you configure interoperability, Web Tools verifies that the domain ID of the switch falls within
the range for the interoperability mode you select. The domain ranges are:

The normal domain ID range is 1 through 239.

The McDATA Fabric mode and McDATA Open Fabric mode are calculated based on the offset
selected.

Before making changes to the interoperability mode, Web Tools checks to see if the domain ID
of the switch falls within the range. If not, a warning message prompts you to change the
domain ID before enabling the interoperability mode.

Perform the following steps to change the interoperability configuration.

1. Open the Switch Administration window.

2. Disable the switch, as described in

“Enabling and disabling a switch”

on page 40.

NOTE

You can change the interoperability configurations only to a disabled (offline) switch. You are
only able to disable the switch if the Admin Domain you are logged into owns the switch.

3. Select the Configure tab.

4. Select the Interoperability subtab.

5. Select the required mode:

Brocade Native Fabric Mode

For McDATA Fabric Mode and McDATA Open Fabric Mode, you can select the offset value
from the Domain Offset (Hex) / Domain ID (Hex) drop-down list.
The available offset values are 0 (0x00), 32 (0x20), 64 (0x40), 96 (0x60), 128 (0x80),
160 (0xA0), and 192 (0xC0). McDATA Open Fabric Mode supports 239 (0xFF) also.

6. Click Apply.
