Caution

Extreme caution should be exercised when you play
back CDs encoded in Dl'S. If you play back a CD
encoded in DTS on a DTS-incompatible CD player,
you will only hear some unwanted noise that may
damage your speakers. Check whether your CD player

supports CDs encoded in DTS. Also, check the sound

output level t)f your CD player before you play back a
CD encoded in DTS,

To play DTS-eiicoded CDs when using a digital audio
connection, .set -DECODER MODE” in “INPUT MENU” to
"DTS" before the playback (see page 80).

Before performing the following operations, set the operation

mode selector on the rcnutle control to

®AMP.

Basic procedure

Turn on the video monitor connected to this

unit.

See page 40 to display the input source information on the

video mttnitor.

Start playback on the selected source
component or select a broadcast station.

• Refer to the operating instructions for the source

component.

• See page 54 for details about XM Satellite Radio

tuning instructions.

Rotate ©VOLUME (or press ©VOLUME +/-)

to adjust the volume to the desired output

• See page 48 to adjust the level of each speaker.
• This does not affect the AUDIO OUT (REC) level.
• You can set the initial volume level and maximum volume

level (see page 77).

Rotate the ©PROGRAM selector (or press

one of the sound field program selector

buttons (©) repeatedly) to select the desired

sound field program.

The name of the selected sound field program appears
in the front panel display. See page 42 for details
about sound field programs.

Rotate the ©INPUT selector (or press one

of the input selector buttons (®)) to select
the desired input source.

The name of the currently selected input source
appears in the front panel display for a few seconds.

Available input sources

The corresponding input selector button on the remote
control for the currently selected input source lights up for
approximately 5 seconds after you pres-s any buttons on the
remote control, showing wTich source component is
currently being opertited.

Currently selected sound field program

Note

Sound field programs cannot be seleeted when the
component connected to the MULTI CH INPUT jacks is

selected as the input source (see page 38).

Choose a sound field program based on your listening
preference, not merely on the name of the program.

When you select an input source, this unit auiomaiieally
selects the last sound field program used with the

eorresponding input souree.
To display information about the currently selected sound
field program in the OSD, see page 61 for details.
