Burners do not light

Food does not broil
properly in the upper oven Oven controls improperly set. • Make sure you turn the upper oven knob to the broil position
Oven door not closed. • See the Using the upper oven section.
Improper rack position

Food being cooked
in a hot pan. • For best results, use a pan designed for broiling.
Make sure it is cool.
Cookware not suited

Oven bottom not securely

Upper or lower oven
temperature too hot
or too cold
Oven thermostat

Clock and timer
