TEST 19- CHECK ENGINE POW ER & CONDITION:
Discussion: Quite often excessive rpm , frequency
and voltage droop that occurs w hen loads are applied
is not the fault of the generator. An under-pow ered
engine m ay be the cause of the problem .
Procedure: Refer to Sections of this m anual per
taining to the diesel engine. The follow ing tune-up
checks are recom m ended:
1. Inspect engine air cleaner. A clogged air cleaner
elem ent can rob engine pow er.
2. Perform a com pression test on engine cylinders.
3. Check for proper operation of the diesei fuel system .
Results: Repair engine as required to restore it to
fuii pow er.
