Section 2.3

ENGINE DISASSEMBLY

General

The follow ing engine disassem bly procedure covers

com plete disassem bly of the engine. You m ay w ish to
disassem ble only to the extent needed for repairs. Most

disassem bly Is a m atter of com m on sense and sim ple

logic.

AC Generator Disassembly

Disassem ble the AC generator and rem ove gener­

ator parts from the engine. Refer to either Section 1.3

or 1.4 of this m anual as appropriate.

Drain Engine Fluids

Before starting the disassem bly process, drain ail

fluids from the engine block.

Drain oil com pletely from the engine aankcase.

If com plete disassem bly w ill be required, rem ove

the engine oil filter.

Drain the engine cooiing system and the engine

w ater Jacket.

If com plete disassem bly Is planned, rem ove en­

gine cooling system and fuel system hoses.

NO TE: Som e Installations m ay be equipped w ith an

attached

radiator, others w ith a rem ote-m ounted

radiator.

Miscellaneous Parts

Rem ove the engine fuel filter.

Rem ove the oil dipstick tube and the dipstick.

Rem ove engine v-belts.

Rem ove fuel injection hoses, pipes and return

pipes.

Rem ove fuel Injection nozzles and nozzle

holders.

Rem ove the engine w ater pum p assem bly and

gasket.

Remove the Head Cover

Rem ove the cylinder head cover and gasket.

Rocker Arm, Push Rod and Cap

Rem ove the rocker arm assem bly and push rods.

Rem ove caps from the intake and exhaust valves. Store

all parts together In a safe place.
