Instructions for Use
Description
Total Etch is a gel used for enamel etching and dentin
conditioning in conjunction with sealing and direct
composite restorations as well as adhesive cementation of
lab- fabricated all-ceramic or composite restorations.
Composition
Total Etch contains phosphoric acid (37 wt.% in water),
thickening agent and colour pigments.
Indication
Total Etch is applied using the enamel etch or total etch
technique for the following indications:
– Composite restorations
– Adhesive cementation of inlays (composite, all- ceramic),
crowns, bridges, veneers, adhesive bridges and root
canal posts
– Splints
– Bonding of orthodontic attachments (e.g. brackets)
– Sealing of fissures
Contraindication
If the stipulated application technique cannot be applied.
Side effects
None known to date.
Other interactions
Glass-ionomer-based liners may be dissolved by Total Etch.
Application
Apply Total Etch on enamel and subsequently on dentin;
and allow a reaction time of 15 seconds. Afterwards,
thoroughly rinse off the etchant with water spray and dry
the tooth sur faces with oil-free air. Avoid excessive drying
of the dentin. The etched enamel surface should have a
chalky white appearance. If this is not the case, repeat the
etching procedure using a shorter reaction time. If the tooth
