Verilink SCC 2130 User Manual

The SCC modules are compatible with HP OpenView™ and other
SNMP network management applications.

Other Features

The SCC Node Controller series also features the following:

Three subsets of the TCP/IP protocol are supported: Telnet is
available as a means of reaching the Craft interface; FTP is
supported for introducing firmware upgrades, and SNMP is
available as a means of network management. All three of
these protocols may be used through either the Ethernet or
SLIP interfaces.

ASCII Craft interface

• Local access by direct connection to the Craft port

• Remote access via Telnet over Ethernet or SLIP

• Up to two simultaneous Craft interface sessions over

Telnet

Multiple simultaneous SNMP sessions (up to 10)

Dual flashbanks to support firmware download

The SCC 2130 has two flashbanks for housing separate software
versions. Before shipment, Verilink loads both flashbanks with the
same version of software. You can download subsequent software
releases into either flashbank. You can choose which version of
software to run for any session, by booting from the desired
flashbank.

For more information on downloadable firmware upgrades, see

Firmware Upgrade Procedures

” in Chapter 3 of this manual.

Types of SCC

Node Controllers

Verilink’s SCC family of Node Controllers includes the following
modules:

The SCC 2130 (documented in this manual) is a TAC 2130
IDCSU (Integrated T1 CSU/DSU) with the addition of an SNMP-
capable node controller function. The SCC 2130, like the TAC
2130, is a self contained module for data purposes. The SCC
2130 does not use any midplane data bus to exchange
timeslots with any of the Verilink DSU modules (DIU 2130, DIU
2131, DIU 2140). None of the 24 DS0 timeslots on a T1
connected to an SCC 2130 can be routed across the shelf
midplane to another module.

The SCC 2020 is a TAC 2010 T1 CSU with the addition of an
SNMP-capable node controller function. See the

SCC 2020 User

Manual

for full details. Unlike the SCC 2130, the CSU portion

of an SCC 2020 can be configured to pass T1 timeslot data to a
DIU module.

The SCC 2120 is a TAC 2110 Automatic Protection Switch CSU
with the added functions of an SNMP node controller and a
master controller for automatic switch protection of T1
