RJ-45 Connectors
Category 5 unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable supports up to 100 megabits
per second. The cable contains four twisted pairs of wires, for a total of eight
wires.
The four pairs of wires in UTP cable are color-coded so that they can be
identified at each end of the cable. Typically, the pairs are made up of a solid
color and the same color striped with white. The following illustration and table
shows the standard pin configuration for an 8-pin RJ-45 connector.
