MAINTENANCE

Steering Wheel Inspection

Check the steering wheel for specified freeplay and smooth
operation at the intervals outlined in the Periodic Maintenance
Chart beginning on page 78.
1. Position the vehicle on level ground.
2. Lightly turn the steering wheel left and right.
3. There should be 0.8"-1.0" (20-25 mm) of freeplay.
4. If there is excessive freeplay or strange noises, or the

steering feels rough or “catchy,” have the steering system
inspected by an authorized POLARIS dealer.

Suspension / Spring Adjustments

NOTICE: For BRUTUS HD and HD

PTO

models, the front shock

absorber spring setting should NOT be changed. For
these models, the factory has pre-set the spring rate for
optimal performance for use with the various attachments
that can be installed on the attachment arm.

For the BRUTUS model: Adjust the rear and front shock
absorber springs by rotating the adjustment cam either clock-
wise or counterclockwise to increase or decrease spring ten-
sion.
For the BRUTUS HD and HD

PTO

models: Adjust the rear

shock absorber springs by rotating the adjustment cam either
clockwise or counterclockwise to increase or decrease spring
tension.

Place the vehicle on jack stands. See page 111. Adjust the front
(BRUTUS only) and rear shock absorber springs by rotating
the adjustment cam either clockwise or counterclockwise to
increase or decrease spring tension.

Tip: No tool is included for suspension adjustment, see your dealer

for adjustment.
