Section 3: Wireless Security Configuration

This section provides a suggested security set up for the WPS870G. You need an installed
WPS870G for this procedure.

Overview

Wireless networks require configuration so that wireless devices can talk to one another.
But they also require security configuration so that outsiders can’t use your wireless
network. Failure to configure these settings properly could compromise your network to
wireless hackers.

The Installation Wizard guided you through the basic installation process so you should be
wirelessly connected to your wireless router. If not, refer to

Section 2:Installation

to install

your unit.

If you have not already configured your wireless network’s security to their maximum level
(the WPS870G supports WPA-PSK/TKIP), refer to the following instructions to change your
password, enable authentication and wireless encryption:

Logging In

Your WPS870G must have received an IP address for you to connect to it.

1

Start your Web browser.

2

In the URL field, type http:// followed by the IP address of the WPS870G, for example:
192.168.10.3. This is the IP address you assigned during the installation. If this is the
first time you are logging into the device, it is recommended that you bookmark the
address for easy retrieval.

3

Type the password. The default password is “motorola”.

4

Press E
