Remedies

• Switch the frequency receiving mode to

mono.

• Adjust the position, height, and direction

of the FM antenna.

• Connect an FM outdoor antenna. Try to

use an antenna with more elements.
(For installation of the outdoor antenna,
consult your nearest dealer as it requires
special skills and experience.)


• The preset data in memory is lost. Preset

the radio stations again.

• DTS Surround sound is unable to be

recorded.

• Check that the Dolby Digital indicator

lights up on the display.

• Use the Input Selector to select the

correct input.

• Firmly connect the z cable. Also connect

the components using audio connection
cables.

• Check that the Connecting block and IR

receiver are correctly connected.

• Remove any objects blocking the IR

receiver.

• Check the operation of the remote

controller as indicated below.

• Reset the current time.

• Set the playback timer to "on".

• Make sure there is an MD, CDR or Tape

inserted in the recording component. Also
check that the timer is set correctly.

• Insert new batteries.

• Replace with new batteries.
• Point the remote controller at the remote

sensor of the DVD Receiver.

• Operate the remote controller within 5 m

(16 feet).

• Press the appropriate Mode button.

Causes

• FM stereo waves may produce a hiss

noise when a certain level is reached.

• The position or direction of the FM

antenna is incorrect.

• The station is too weak.

• The radio wave is distorted.
• Cars are running or airplanes are flying

near the house.

• There is a tall building or a mountain

nearby.
(The waves transmitted from the
transmission center (direct waves) and
the waved reflected by buildings or
mountains (diffraction waves) interfere
with each other causing multi pass
distortion.)

• The power cord is unplugged, or the main

power is switched off, for a long time.

• The sound system you are trying to

record is DTS Surround.

• Playback source is not Dolby Digital

encoded.

• The signal input is not compatible.

• The z cable is not firmly connected to

the jack.

• It is not connected correctly.

• An object is between the remote controller

and the IR receiver.

• The remote controller is not operating

correctly.

• The current time is not set correctly.

• The playback timer is set to "off".

• The recording medium is not compatible.

• No batteries are inserted in the remote

controller.

• The batteries are worn out.
• The remote controller is not pointed at the

remote sensor of the DVD Receiver.

• The remote controller is too far from the

DVD Receiver.

• Any wrong Mode button is pressed.

Symptoms

Too much noise is heard or
sound is interrupted
occasionally. (The FM
STEREO indicator does
not light steadily.)

The sound is distorted or
sound volume decreases.

Sound is excessively
distorted.

No preset channels are
selected.

Sound is reproduced from
the speakers but not
recorded.

Late Night function cannot
be used.

An z connected
component cannot be
controlled by the remote
controller.

IR IN is connected but the
remote controller will not
control the unit.

Playback timer or
Recording timer function
does not operate.

The buttons on the DVD
Receiver operate but the
buttons on the remote
controller don not operate.

This unit contains a sensitive microcomputer, which under certain circumstances might fail to operate due to excessive noise
interference. If this happens, press the DVD Receiver’s Preset Memory button and Standby/On button at the same time until
“CLEAR” appears in the DVD Receiver’s display. The DVD Receiver turns into the standby mode, then all the custom settings
for the receiver section of the DVD Receiver will be erased. Please repeat the custom settings from the beginning.
