airHaul™ Nexus User Guide

Appendix E – SNMP MIB

The airHaul device Mib can be downloaded at http://www.smartbridges.com/support/ah_nexus.asp . It

contains all the MIB files used in the device.

How to use the MIB files?

*******************************************************************************

The user can use a MIB browser/compiler (available on the Internet) to convert the text file definitions

to the proper OID form. This OID will be of form .1.3.1.6.1.4.1.14882.1.2. etc. The user can use

snmpget, snmpset or snmpwalk to obtain and set the various values.

MIB browser errors

*******************************************************************************

The directories contain an exhaustive listing of all the required and dependent MIB files. However , it

is possible that at times the MIB browser gives an error that it requires a particular MIB file. This MIB

file will be standard MIB files which can be downloaded from the net. They are defined by RFCs and

are readily available.

Some MIB browsers may give errors in the NEXUS MIB files (NEXUS-MIB, RADIO-MIB, SLA-MIB,

QOS-MIB, DHCP-MIB, ROUTE-MIB). In such an event , try compiling with all the comments removed.

( Comments start with a -- ).

The important MIB files

*******************************************************************************

The NEXUS-MIB ,RADIO-MIB, DHCP-MIB, BRIDGE-MIB and SLA-MIB are common to all the

products.

The user can start with these two files first. NEXUS-MIB is the parent of all other NEXUS MIB

files and is required before compiling any other of the NEXUS MIB files.

Who can access the OIDs

*******************************************************************************

User needs to know the IP address , the community password and the OID name/number to get/set

values from/on the device. User may use the OID name (Eg. sbaRadioInterfaceName) or the

complete OID number (.1.3.1.6.1.4.1.14882.5.1.16.0)

Caveat

*******************************************************************************

The MIB files may change over time. User should get in touch with the Technical Support group to

get the latest MIB files.

Sometimes the MIB browser does not recognize RFC-1212 MIB file. In such an event, either alias this

file to RFC1155-SMI (if alias option is provided by the browser) or replace RFC-1212 by RFC1155-

SMI in all the MIB files.
