Configuring the Printer

Data Bit 8

Values:

Enable or Disable.

Normally, this parameter is enabled. It allows access to the extended ASCII
character set.

Data Polarity

Values:

Normal or Inverted.

This must be set to match the Data Polarity of your host system. There are
normally seven or eight data bits that define each ASCII character sent from the
host to the printer. The bits are usually high-true.

Fault Polarity

Values:

Normal or Inverted.

This must be set to match the host computer. When the printer detects a paper
error or a fatal machine check, it sends a Fault signal to the host, which, in turn,
stops sending data.

PE Polarity

Values:

Normal or Inverted.

This must be set to match the host computer. When a

paper out or paper jam

occurs while printing, the printer sends a Paper Empty (PE) signal to the host,
telling it to stop sending data.
