A label format was
sent to the printer but
not recognized. The
DATA light does not
flash.

The communication parameters
are incorrect.

Check the printer driver or software
communications settings (if applicable).

Check the printer host port setting via the front
panel (see

page 44

). Select the port that matches the

one being used by the host computer.

Ensure you are using the correct communication
cable. See

Cable Requirements on page 15

.

Via the front panel, check the protocol setting. It
should be set to NONE. See

Ensure that the correct driver is being used, if
applicable.

A label format was
sent to the printer.
Several labels print,
then the printer skips,
misplaces, misses, or
distorts the image on
the label.

The host computer is set to EPP
parallel communications.

Change the settings on the host computer to
standard parallel communications.

The serial communication
settings are incorrect.

Ensure that the flow control settings match.

Check the communication cable length. See

Check the printer driver or software
communications settings (if applicable).

A label format was
sent to the printer but
not recognized. The
DATA light flashes but
no printing occurs.

The prefix and delimiter
characters set in the printer do
not match the ones in the label
format.

Incorrect data is being sent to the
printer.

Ensure that ZPL is being used.

Check the communication settings on the host
computer. Ensure that they match the printer
settings.

The printer fails to
calibrate or detect the
top of the label.

The printer was not calibrated for
the label being used.

The printer is configured for
continuous media.

Set the media type to non-continuous media.

The driver or software
configuration is not set correctly.

As driver or software settings produce ZPL
commands that can overwrite the printer
configuration, check the driver or software media-
related setting.
