Note: To change the number of rings before the machine answers an
incoming call, see

Selectable Options on page 1-52.

To adjust ringer volume, press the Menu button and the System Setup (04)
button on the One-Touch keypad. Ringer volume is the first item displayed.
Press the Start/Enter button. Use the Up or Down button to set the desired
loudness. Press the Stop button twice to accept and exit.

If a fax signal is not sensed when the machine answers the call, you will
hear a second ringing tone indicating a voice phone call.

Lift the external phone to answer the call. If the voice call is not
answered within a specified time, the machine will switch to automatic
fax reception mode.

Receiving Manually in TEL Mode

If you have an external phone connected to the EXT jack on the left side of
the machine, you can answer voice phone calls and receive faxes manually.

Press the Receive button until the display indicates TEL.

Answer an incoming call by picking up the external phone.

If you hear a fax tone, or if the person calling asks you to receive a fax,
press the Start button on the machine.

If the machine is equipped with an external phone, you may also press
the characters * 9 * (star-nine-star) on the external phone to initiate
reception.
