Before each use

Visually inspect the entire

length of the rope. Make

sure there are no burns,

nicks, tears, cut or frayed

threads, etc.

Check it in 30 cm intervals,

turning the rope to get a

complete inspection.

Using your fi ngers, check

if the core is damaged

or cut inside the sheath

(soft spots, breaks, loose

strands). Invisible internal

wear can be caused by

fl exing, or repetitive

loading (stretching),

phenomena that are

aggravated by moisture or

by an accumulation of solid

particles.

Sewn terminations

Look for cuts in the

webbing, wear and damage

due to use, to heat, and

to contact with chemical

products, etc. Be particularly

careful to check for cut or

damaged threads. Move the

protective covers and check

the safety stitching. Put the

protective covers back into

place.

During each use

It is important to regularly

inspect the condition of the

product.

Consult the details of the

inspection procedure to be

carried out for each item of

PPE on the Web at www.

petzl.com/ppe or on the

PETZL PPE CD-ROM.

Contact PETZL if there

is any doubt about the

condition of this product.

Compatibility

Verify that this product is

compatible with the other

elements of the system in your

application (compatible = good

functional interaction).

ATTENTION, a new, unwashed

rope is very slippery.

Make sure that your rope is

compatible with the devices

used on it (refer to the technical

notices for these other

products).

Any equipment attached to

your rope (anchors, locking

connectors, absorbers etc.)

must conform to applicable

standards.

Verify there are no burrs or

sharp edges on the connectors

and other devices (risk of

damaging your rope).

An incompatibility can cause

accidental disconnection,

breakage, or affect the safety

function of another piece of

equipment.
