8.4.2. Pattern Match Locator

Description

In pattern match operation, sample object and target object are compared to determine if they are
similar. (Pattern match ►)

The locator searches for the sample through 360° inside the inspection area and determines its
position. In this way it is possible to detect the horizontal translations and either the vertical
displacement of the object among the inspection area.

Graphically, the locator looks like two rectangles, one inside the other:

• The outer blue rectangle is the search area;

• the smaller inner rectangle (orange) represents the sample.

During the setup process, you need to define the sample to be identified. The system stores the
brightness value of each composing pixel.
During the inspection, the locator will search for the sample in the region of interest. When it finds the
sample, it will highlight it with an orange rectangle.
Degree of similarity and accuracy may be set from the control panel.
