Extron recommends that the SSP 7.1 Setup and Control Software is used to set speaker
delays, using either of the following methods.
Two person setup

NOTE: Setting up speaker delays is easier with two people. If only one person is

available, the position of the ears of the listener must be marked precisely. A pile
of boxes could be used to ensure that the distances are consistently measured
to the correct height. Do not try to guess ear positions, as this introduces
measurement errors.

Pick an ideal central location where all speaker output signals converge.

Use a tape measure to measure the distance from each speaker to the convergence
location. Be sure to measure to the same spot from each speaker.

NOTE: Measurements from the speaker must be to the midrange driver in a

three-way speaker or from halfway between the tweeter and the woofer in
a two-way speaker. Measurements to the convergence locations must be at
ear height.

Click on the Feet (ft) or Meters (m) button to select the units and enter the
Speaker Distance values for each speaker (in feet or meters) in the boxes in the SSP 7.1
Setup and Control Software Speaker Delay tab. The up and down (

) arrows increase

the distance in increments corresponding to steps of 0.1 ms (0.12 feet or 0.03 meters).
The software automatically selects the farthest speaker and calculates the delay time (in
milliseconds) for each speaker.
These values are shown in the Calculated Delay box. The current values are shown in
blue, changes (yet to be saved) are shown in orange.
