To define or operate the TrueCopy for Mainframe synchronous pairs in the Synchronous consistency
groups, install the TrueCopy for Mainframe (Synchronous) software. An XP Continuous Access
synchronous consistency group and a TrueCopy Open/MF consistency group described in the
Hitachi TrueCopy™ for Mainframe User Guide are the same. For more information about a
TrueCopy Open/MF consistency group, see the Hitachi TrueCopy™ for Mainframe User Guide:
HP XP24000 Disk Array, HP XP20000 Disk Array
.

You must use the same consistency group number when XP Continuous Access Synchronous pairs
and TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous pairs are registered in the same XP Continuous Access
Synchronous consistency group. Therefore, you must decide beforehand the consistency group
number by both RAID Manager and Business Continuity Manager. Specify the unused consistency
group number. Before you start the operation, define the pair specifying the consistency group
number with RAID Manager and Copy Group Attributes (TC) window of Business Continuity
Manager. For further information about the Copy Group Attributes (TC) window, see the HP Business
Continuity Manager Software User Guide
.

To maintain data consistency on each of the S-VOLs and the R-VOLs within the storage system, it
is possible to do the following:

When creating an XP Continuous Access Synchronous pair with Remote Web Console, the
created XP Continuous Access Synchronous pair can be registered in a specific consistency
group automatically. If an XP Continuous Access Synchronous pair is suspended for any
reason, all of the XP Continuous Access synchronous P-VOLs registered in this specific
consistency group will be suspended.

When the RCU detects that all of the connections for the MCU are disconnected, all the XP
Continuous Access synchronous S-VOLs registered in the specific consistency group will be
changed to PSUE status.

See

“Retention of Pair Consistency using the Consistency Group of the XP Continuous Access

Synchronous” (page 171)

for further information on this description.

XP Continuous Access Asynchronous Consistency Group Operations

XP Continuous Access Asynchronous consistency groups enable update sequence consistency to
be maintained across a group of volumes. The P-VOLs and S-VOLs of the pairs in a consistency
group must be located within one physical MCU and one physical RCU (1-to-1 requirement). The
XP Continuous Access consistency group operations include:
