by the delta resync operation; you need not wait long before you can again access the XP
Continuous Access Journal data volumes.

A delta resync operation consists of two processes: preparation before the failure occurs (see

“Journal Obtain at XP Continuous Access Synchronous Secondary Site” (page 28)

) and the recovery

after a failure has occurred (see

“Switching the Master Journal Group of XP Continuous Access

Journal” (page 30)

).

Note: For the most current information on the availability of the delta resync operation, contact HP
technical support.

Journal Obtain at XP Continuous Access Synchronous Secondary Site

When a failure occurs, before you can perform a delta resync operation, obtain the journal data
in the XP Continuous Access Synchronous secondary site of the 3DC multi-target configuration. To
create an XP Continuous Access Journal pair for delta resync operation, specify the XP Continuous
Access Synchronous S-VOL in XP Continuous Access Synchronous secondary site as the primary
data volume, and specify the data volume in the XP Continuous Access Journal secondary site as
the secondary data volume.

When you create an XP Continuous Access Journal pair for the delta resync operation, the differential
data of data volumes in the XP Continuous Access Synchronous primary site and the secondary
site are stored in the journal volumes in the XP Continuous Access Synchronous secondary site as
journal data.
