When, after creating the XP Continuous Access Journal pair for the delta resync operation,
no volumes (including volumes after failover or failback) in the primary site are updated.

When the delta resync operation is performed, the XP Continuous Access Journal pair and
the XP Continuous Access pair are in PAIR status, and within five minutes after a volume in
the primary site is updated after the XP Continuous Access Journal pair for the delta resync
operation is created.

If the delta resync operation that uses remote command devices is to be performed, you can
execute the delta resync operation directly after the primary site is updated.

The delta resync operation is also performed in the following cases:

When the XP Continuous Access Journal pair status changes to HOLD after the delta
resync operation

When you re-create the XP Continuous Access Journal pair for the delta resync operation,
when recovering the primary site and so on

You can copy all the primary volume data to the secondary volume and avoid the error when only
a part of the differential data between primary and secondary data volume is stored in the journal
volume. For detailed information about the option, see

“Changing Options for Logical Paths and

Storage Systems” (page 149)

.

Even if you specify the option of the delta resync operation, if the configuration has the following
two conditions, errors occur and then the delta resync operation will fail:

The secondary volume of the XP Continuous Access Journal pair for delta resync operation is
TP-VOL.

The secondary volume of the XP Continuous Access Journal pair for delta resync operation is
assigned to the primary volume of XP Business Copy Software.

If the status of the XP Continuous Access Journal pair for delta resync operation does not change
after you performed the delta resync operation, some of the requirements explained in this section
may not be met. In that case, check the status of the XP Continuous Access Synchronous pair, XP
Continuous Access Journal pair, and XP Continuous Access Journal pair for the delta resync
operation, and make sure that all pairs have the required status.

Configuring Delta Resync Operation Environment that uses Remote Command Devices

To configure the delta resync operation environment that uses remote command devices, perform
the following tasks after creating an XP Continuous Access Journal pair for delta resync operation:

Configure paths and ports connecting the primary site and the secondary site.
