If the Continuous Access Synchronous pair, the Continuous Access Journal pair, and the Continuous
Access Journal pair for delta resync operation are all deleted when the remote command device
cannot be communicated because of a failure or a disaster, the assigned remote command devices
to mirrors cannot be released automatically. If you want to release the assigned remote command
devices after deleting the pair, restore the communication with the remote command device, and
then release the assigned remote command devices. For details on releasing the assigned remote
command devices, see
“Releasing Assigned Remote Command Device” (page 176)
Changing to a 3DC Multi-Target Configuration After Recovering from Primary Site Failures
If you follow the instructions in
“Recovering from Primary Site Disaster in a 3DC Multi-Target
and the system does not change to a 3DC cascading configuration, you
can change the system to a 3DC multi-target configuration after removing failures from the primary
site and other locations. In the resulting 3DC multi-target configuration, the former XP Continuous
Access secondary volume will be the primary volume.
To change the system to a 3DC multi-target configuration:
1.
Use RAID Manager to release the former XP Continuous Access Journal pair.
2.
If pair resynchronization has not been performed to reverse the primary/secondary relationship
of an XP Continuous Access Synchronous pair (that is, if the pair is suspended), use RAID
Manager to resynchronize the pair, so that the primary/secondary relationship will be reversed.

Transferring Business Tasks from an XP Continuous Access Secondary Site to the Primary Site (in a
3DC Cascading Configuration)
If you follow the instructions in
“Recovering from Primary Site Disaster in a 3DC Multi-Target
and the system is changed to a 3DC cascading configuration, you can
transfer your business tasks back to the primary site after removing failures from the primary site
and other locations.
To transfer your business tasks back to the primary site, follow the procedure described in this
section. RAID Manager is used in this procedure.
1.
Stop the business tasks at the XP Continuous Access Synchronous secondary site.
2.
Use RAID Manager to execute the horctakeover command on the XP Continuous Access
Synchronous pair.
The system configuration returns to a 3DC multi-target configuration.
3.
Use the primary volume at the primary site to resume your business tasks.
