Working with Container Attributes

To specify a cluster partner, use a command listed in Table 6-2, as in
the following example. In the example, the

controller show

container_verify

command displays the container verify status

for the controller on cluster partner 1, the peer partner.

HPN0> controller show container_verify 1

Executing: controller show container_verify 1

Container verify ENABLED

Displaying and Renumbering a Container ID

The

container number

attribute identifies the ID of a container. A

container ID is a number from 0 to 63.

A controller supports twenty-four visible containers and thirty-nine
hidden containers. A visible container is a container that is visible to
the operating system and users. Container IDs 0 through 23 are
visible containers. The CLI automatically assigns a container ID (0 to
23) to a newly created container. See Chapter 7, Working With Single-
level Containers
and Chapter 8, Working with Multi-level Containers for
information on creating a container.

Container IDs 24 through 63 are reserved for hidden containers. A
hidden container is a container that is not visible to the operating
system and can only be used by other containers. However, you can
display hidden containers with the

container list

command.

The CLI allows you to assign a hidden container ID (24 through 63)
to a visible container. If you assign a hidden container ID to a visible
container, the operating system no longer sees the visible container.
In general, when renumbering a visible container, use container IDs
0 through 23. When renumbering a hidden container, use container
IDs 24 through 63.

In a cluster environment the container ID is expanded to include the
cluster partner. The controlling partner is indicated with a 0 (zero)
