Working with Snapshot
Containers

This chapter explains how to use the CLI to create, update, and
remove snapshot containers. You can perform snapshot operations
only if the snapshot feature is available on your controller.

The snapshot feature allows you to create an instantaneous copy of a
container at a precise point in time. The snapshot container is
immediately available for backup, archiving, or use by application
programs. The snapshot container can be written to, but changes to
the original container (the container from which the snapshot was
taken) do not affect the snapshot container.

The CLI creates a link between the original container and the
snapshot container. The link associates the snapshot container with
the original container and is used to maintain archive information
between the original and snapshot containers.

The following table provides a quick reference to the topics
described in this chapter.
