Working with Container Attributes

Displaying and Setting a Container’s Total Size

The

total size

attribute indicates the number of bytes in a

container. The size of a container is the size of the freespace you
specified when you created, reconfigured, or extended the container.

To display a container’s total size, use the

container list

command, as in the following example. In the example, the Total
Size

column indicates that the size of container 0 is 15MB.

HPN0> container list

Executing: container list

Cluster Num Total Oth Stripe Scsi Partition

Dr Partner Label Type Size Ctr Size Usage C:ID:L Offset:Size

-- ------- ----- ------ ------ --- ------ ------- ------ -------------

0 0 Volume 15MB None 2:01:0 64KB: 15MB

Venus 2:02:0 64KB: 15MB

To set the size of a container, use the

container create

commands or the

container reconfigure

command. For

information on the

container create

commands, see Chapter 7,

Working With Single-level Containers. For information on the

container reconfigure

command, see Chapter 9, Modifying

Containers

Displaying and Setting Stripe Size

The

stripe size

attribute indicates the number of bytes in a

stripe. Stripe size is the amount of data that is written to a partition
before the I/O data stream switches to the next partition/container
in a stripe set, RAID-5 set, or stripe set of mirror sets.

To display the stripe size of a container, use the

container list

command, as in the following example. In the example, the Stripe
Size

column indicates that the stripe size of container 1 is 32KB

(kilobytes).
