5.2 In case of reduced clamping force, cooling

media, flushing dust etc. can wash out or replace

grease. Dismantle the chuck and do basic clea-
ning of all parts in cleaning petroleum.

5.3 When reassembling, ensure that the appropriate

Röhm grease „F 80“ is used.

6. Chip protection

To prevent foreign material from penetrating into
the jaw guides, insert chip protection up to the jaw

unit. This heat-resistant film must be facing the bore

holes.

After equal lubrication of chuck, move it in and out wit-
hout a work piece twice so that lubrication media reaches
all gliding surfaces.

Maintenance:
With jaw change/shifting the base jaws:

• The base jaws out of the body.

• The jaw guidance in bases clean and grease after-

wards easily again.

• The guidance of the basic jaws which can be used

likewise clean and grease afterwards easily again.

• So that the fat can distribute itself, the base jaws

with renewed inserting into the base once by the
entire length of the jaw guidance to push, before
the desired radial position is stopped. Fat places: In

addition a lithium saponified, tough fat must be used.


Blow out:
Never in jaw guidance and/or guidance column blow.
Note: Recommended actuation moment at the key
100 Nm. Max. permissible actuation moment at the
key 320 Nm.

4. Exchanging or expanding jaws

4.1 All jaws milled for a specific chuck should, to main-

tain radial runout only be inserted onto this chuck
and in the same groove position (see inscription on
the jaw and groove). Basic and capping jaws for
periodical repeating work to be stored in a screwed-
in condition. It is therefore recommended to have
several jaw units in storage.

Multi-level jaws procured later or hardened jaws
must be milled in the chuck under pre-tensioning.
We will perform this work to invoice if the chuck is
sent to us.

4.2 Soft jaws that are turned to the work piece diameter,

provide the highest precision and protect the work
piece surfaces even under high clamping forces. To
achieve high precision, soft jaws must be clamped
for turning and hard jaws for grinding in the same
way as they will be used later for work piece proces-
sing. This pre-tensioning can be done using our jaw

turning fixture BAV.

4.3 For the highest radial runout specifications, it is

recommended to determine a residual radial error
for each jaw after grinding, and to grind away half of
the determined radial runout deviation on this jaw. It
is useful to remove the other jaws that are not being
ground down, replace them with basic jaws and to
clamp in a ground disc. Design limited, this deviation
is as a rule is at the directly driven jaw (jaw number 1).

5.1 Clamping spindle and internal moving parts

are to be lubricated regularly (approx. monthly)
using the provided lubrication nipples.
