Choosing a Destination Codec

To select the destination codec for your transferred media, choose Preferences from the
Action pop-up menu in the Browse area. Final Cut Pro includes built-in support for P2
media and AVCHD. There are third-party plug-ins for other formats. For more information
about the format choices, plug-in downloads, and workflows for advanced file-based
camcorders supported by Final Cut Pro, see Professional Formats and Workflows, available
in Final Cut Pro Help.

If the format you are ingesting is not natively supported by Final Cut Pro (such as AVCHD
or AVC-Intra), you need to choose a format, such as an Apple ProRes codec, to transcode
your media to.

Viewing Clips to Be Transferred

The Browse area allows you to view the contents of any mounted volumes and select
clips to be transferred using the Transfer Queue. Valid volumes appear automatically in
the Browse area when you open the Log and Transfer window.
