Appendix C: Important Notice – Air Transporting the
Enigma

IATA Hazardous Goods Regulation
This product is powered by a battery containing either lithium C-cells or D-
cells. Air-freighting of products containing these lithium cells is governed by
IATA (International Air Transport Association) regulation UN/ID number
3091 entitled ‘Lithium batteries contained in equipment.’ This regulation
clearly states that this equipment is classified as Hazardous Goods, Class 9. It
can be transported by air only if it is packed specifically as instructed in
UN/ID number 3091; this defines the necessary packing requirements
specified in Packing Instruction 912 and labeling requirements specified in
Miscellaneous.

Enigma transported from ADS via air-transport
All new or newly repaired/recalibrated Enigma equipment leaving ADS and
transported by air are packed according to UN/ID number 3091. If the
product(s) is to be transported to a second destination, it must be declared as
hazardous to the freighting agent and include the information contained in the
section entitled ‘IATA Hazardous Goods Regulation’ above.

Enigma to be transported to ADS via air-transport
To transport this product by air, all batteries and SIM cards (if applicable)
must first be removed. The Enigma then can be transported without being
declared hazardous.

Dispose of removed batteries in accordance with local waste regulations.
ADS will equip the product with new batteries. Keep the SIM card (if
applicable) for re-installation.

To airfreight these products or to obtain further information about air-
freighting regulations, please contact ADS:
