Systemic and Pulmonary Resistances

Cardiac output and blood pressure readings are used to calculate systemic resistance and
pulmonary resistance.

Calculating Systemic Resistance:

1.

Display page 2 of the “Hemodynamics” menu (a submenu of

, see page 8).

Press

followed by

. A menu of resistance calculations is displayed:

Press

followed by

. A screen for entering cardiac output (if not already

calculated), arterial pressure, and right atrial pressure is displayed:

4.

Enter the cardiac output, arterial pressure, and right atrial pressure, using the
number keys. After each value is entered, check that the value is correct and
press

to move the cursor to the next line.

Note:

If cardiac output was already calculated, the value will be displayed.

If an incorrect value is displayed, delete numerals from the right by
pressing

once for each numeral to be deleted.

5.

After all values have been entered, press

to confirm. The calculated systemic

resistance is displayed:

Press

when done. The menu of resistance calculations is again displayed.

to return to the previous menu, if desired.
